A Week After We Moved in Together,

After just one week of marriage, my husband, Derek, handed me a frilly apron and called it my “house uniform.” He explained it was a family tradition, his mother wore one every day, and it would help me embrace the homemaker role. I was shocked but played along.

I had agreed to try being a homemaker when we married, but this went beyond what I expected. So, I decided to show Derek what his “tradition” really meant. Over the next few days, I fully embraced the role, wearing the apron while cooking, cleaning, and calling him “sir.” I even embroidered a name tag on the apron reading “DEREK’S FULL-TIME HOUSEWIFE.”When Derek’s coworkers came over for dinner, I greeted them in full uniform, curtsying and referring to him as “the master of the house.” His discomfort grew as the evening wore on, and he finally exploded, accusing me of making him look bad. I calmly pointed out that I was just living the “dream” he’d envisioned for me.
