An American couple, Sarah and Bill, made a generous gesture at a Canadianrestaurant by paying for every customer’s meal. Their act of kindness stemmedfrom their disapproval of U.S. policies, particularly tariffs imposed by Donald Trump. The president had recently signed an order enforcing strict tariffs on Canada,Mexico, and China, citing concerns over fentanyl production and illegal bordercrossings. The order claimed enough fentanyl had been seized at the northern border,
to kill 9.8 million Americans and that crossings from Canada had reached record highs.Disagreeing with these measures, Sarah and Bill decided to show support for Canadiansby covering the cost of meals for approximately 50 to 60 diners.Restaurant patron Aileen Ganley-Mutter recalled the surprise in the room, saying,“We were all shocked because that just doesn’t happen.” Some customers offeredto contribute, but the couple refused, calling it “the least they could do.”Co-owner May Hermiz described the moment as heartwarming, with cheers and applausefrom the crowd. She shared that the woman expressed her love for Canada, adding,“She hates what the U.S. is doing to us and doesn’t support it.”
